The new installment of the Call of Duty franchise is coming out soon with Call of Duty: World at War, with this the beta is now out on the Xbox360 and PC. At almost a gig download for both the PC and XBOX360 we downloaded the beta and checked out the beta. After playing quite a bit of this we found several things. The game played well, the net code was great, the models looked good, the weapons mostly were good and we generally liked what we saw. Except for one simple thing... all this beta is, is a mod of Call of Duty 4. The game is identical in almost every way including that of the leveling ranks, the way the game feels and runs, pretty much everything. After that of owning and playing every Call of Duty game that has been released I was very disappointed that the game seems like a free mod that we have been used to downloading for PC games for years. What was even more annoying as a bit of a self proclaimed WW2 buff that most of the additional extras to the weapons are COMPLETELY and UTTERLY fictional. These additional weapon mods are exactly the same as the ones from Call of Duty 4. This is by far the most annoying thing in this beta in my opinion. With this in mind this game is good and I will buy it but that fact that it seems that the people involved in this new addition to Call of Duty seem to have really just skinned COD4. It is disappointing but it is still fun to play, it’s just shames that seem to have not looked at any WW2 books or used their imagination. If I am to get nitty picky as well you can use any weapon you like with any Country your playing as. Well... yeah, think that’s it.
